Part 1, “Proactive Parliamentary Diplomacy”, our third and latest edition, links Asia and Europe. Part 2, “Parliamentary Diplomacy in the ASEAN Context”, takes a more focused look at the larger ASEAN region.
This transition towards the greater Southeast Asia, and beyond, mirrors PIC’s expanding activities and institutional evolution towards the Parliamentary Centre of Asia, or PCAsia, which includes a greater role in capacity development and experience sharing among ASEAN Member States.
More specifically, the atlas series is produced to help support Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff proactively engage in the ASEAN region. This includes seizing the opportunities presented by parliamentary cooperation, by working with regional partners, and with counterparts in Europe and elsewhere.
They are also tools to enhance PIC parliamentary training programs, helping to introduce participating parliamentary staff to the varied perspectives, policies and plans put forward by contributors, comprising practitioners and academics from both inside and outside the ASEAN region.
