East China's Jiangsu province exported US$910m worth textile products in the first four months of this year, a rise of 38.2% on the same period last year. The European Union, Japan and the US were the top three target markets of the textile sales. XINHUA

Taiwan-based children's apparel supplier Les Enphants Co announced it will open 300 additional outlets in China by the end of this year, increasing the number of stores to 3,000 on the mainland. More than 100 outlets in the project have started operations, with most of the stores located in coastal cities, including Shenzhen and Guangzhou, the company said. ASIA PULSE
US clothing manufacturer Patagonia will start recycling customers' used surfboards and wet suits in Japan to produce cement materials and fuel. Launched through an agreement with Amita Holdings Co, used items will be sent to an Amita recycling site in Ibaraki Prefecture, where they will be crushed and shredded. ASIA PULSE

US uniform company Cintas Corp has introduced shirts for the gaming industry that are partly made from recycled plastic bottles. Cintas uses technology that converts plastics into a fibre that can then be woven into fabric. About five plastic bottles are needed to create one shirt, most of which is still manufactured from traditional polyester, the company said. REUTERS

Cloth manufacturer Jubilee Spinning & Weaving Mills Limited has announced the reappointment of Shams Rafi as chief executive. He will serve in this position for three years effective 1 June this year.

Cambodia's garment and textile exports surged 45% to US$1.23bn in the first four months of this year, compared with the same period last year, according to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce. Exports to the US rose by 25% to $654m, to European countries up 78% to $329m, and to other countries up 77% to $247m. XINHUA
