The Kampuchea Thmei newspaper reported that a group of 20 Thai soldiers sneaked in to dig trenches near the entrance road to Phnom Trop hill and the Ta Sim geographical pass.

In seeing this situation, Cambodian troops issued a warning to the Thai soldiers to pull out immediately. For now, the Thai troops have pulled out from the new trenches area, but Cambodia has stationed troops there in case Thai troops are returning back. General Yim Pim, the commander of Brigade 8, said that Thai troops sneaked in at night time to dig the trenches near the road dividing up to Phnom Trop hill and Ta Sim, but Cambodian troops saw them on time and asked them to leave.

The trenches dug are about 50-meter long, and now they are under Cambodian control, following the pullout of Thai soldiers. Yim Pim said that Cambodia asked these Thai troops to pull out because this area is troop free. However, the situation is very precarious because Thai soldiers could come back. In the afternoon of 13 July, Thai troops have not been seen returning back yet. However, if they insist on returning, the situation could become explosive.
