Swazi Observer
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is currently working on making a decent work country programme.
This is a programme aimed at promoting social dialogue among the Swazi citizens and government.
This was said by ILO Senior Advisor on External Relations and Partnership, Judica Amri Makhetha.
Makhetha had gone to bid Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Themba Masuku farewell at his offices yesterday afternoon. She is moving from Pretoria to Addis Ababa where she is assuming the new post of being the senior advisor.
“We will involve people of this country when we are making the programme.”
Makhetha said working with Swaziland would be easy because she had worked with the country in 1995 until year 2000. She stated that a lot had already been done in the country to promote social dialogue.
Makhetha also stated that ILO would in April celebrate its 90th birthday. She said Swaziland was expected to participate in many activities, which will be done to signify the importance of the day. The DPM asked Makhetha to involve Swazi consultants when making the programme.
He said Swazi consultants understood the situation in the country better and they could make informed decisions.
“Swazi consultants will not leave some of the important aspects of the life of the people in this country.” Masuku said as a nation Swaziland had always believed in dialogue.
“We may not agree on everything but we make sure that we give people audience if they want to be heard.”
